I beat Bayonetta the weekend before this past (therefore: Nov.16).
I missed it after I beat it. It was so fun, and so amazingly out there.
Fabulous (in the trashy, campy kind of way), quotable, very entertaining gameplay and continuously surprising (with some surprisingly subtexty tidbits toward the end).
There's a lot of extra stuff I have yet to unlock, but I don't feel like doing that just yet <3. Neither do I feel like going back to Bioshock just yet.

I finished a couple of light novels as well. I'm still thinking about whether I have anything to say about them other than:

384,403km―anata o tsuki ni sarattara was more enjoyable than I expected, while still not exactly straying from what I had expected.

kimi ga boku o ~doushite sora wa aoi no?~ left me distinctly cranky. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, up until the BAD END. I shouldn't really have been cranky about it since it's not a BAD END but a cliffhanger, lol, but I was. I do love reading this author's writing though.

A box. I was listening to Mirror's Edge music. I saw an interesting colour combination in the scenery while looking out the train window on the way home.

Speaking of Mirror's Edge, I bought it (and passed it) this weekend. I love the visual style ;_; it's bloody fantastic. Lovely BGM, very much the kind of stuff I'm happy to listen to while I try that stupid L-jump over and over and over. Silly story, but that's not why I played it. Short, but I didn't mind since I found it quite difficult. 'Trial-and-error' element was interesting (in addition to frustrating, yes). Ended up kind of appreciating the fact that the camera-angle affects the physics (even though I was screeching about it on Friday and Saturday).

Also bought BlazBlue. It was more fun than I thought it would be; I guess I forgot how much fun I actually had playing GG. I like that the arcade sticks don't give me sore thumbs and achey hands.

I've pestered everyone I've come in contact this week nearly to death by relating events and dialogue from Itaike na Shujin (Nakazato Mitsuru). Since I really can't put my thoughts regarding it into any kind of bloggable order (and I'm not even halfway done so it really wouldn't be fair) I thought I'd dump my equally disordered thoughts regarding Dorobou no Meijin (same author) instead. I wrote them up a few days ago intending to see if I could produce a coherent book review, and I think that anyone who reads this will agree with me that they belong here more than anywhere else.

Dorobou no Meijin.

The illustrations and summary made me wary of this book. Frankly, I thought it would be creepy, but I decided to give it a chance after reading a couple of reviews. While I still don't like the way the illustrations portray the protagonist, I quite enjoyed the book overall (and I rather like the illustrator's style - just not their all of their character designs).

Set mainly in an antiquarian bookstore devoid of customers and an apartment where the only leisure activity is reading, wrapped up in reminiscence and comparisons to folk-tales, the atmosphere was enjoyably surreal. When I tried to explain this impression to her, my mother pointed out a certain similarity to The Thirteenth Tale (Diane Setterfield), which I couldn't help but agree with to some degree.

I also liked how the story was developed. With the exception of the drama surrounding the conclusion, it read like digging through a set of unusually well-ordered memories pertaining to a particular life-changing event. Conversations that were significant to the heroine, her thoughts at the time, footnotes added while reminiscing at a later date. Some strange hybrid between a soliloquy, a diary and a collection of memoirs.

That is not to say that it does not contain things like servicey sororal skinship, a tsundere elementary schooler and a few other well-worn cliches. The story is fluff, but fluff constructed of material which I found interesting.

So my DAC came in last week.
Oh god I love it.
I was worried that I, being the Bose-loving bottom-feeder that I am ;D, wouldn't be able to hear a difference when I hooked it up. I was worried that any difference that I heard would be too small for me to justify ignoring the possibility of the placebo effect.
But there was a noticeable difference <3!
(I even dragged omgotarjay into my room to listen to the before/after and verify that I wasn't making it up).

I recently experimented with a forwarding service by purchasing some doujinshi from Tora no Ana (who only ship domestically). I was rather surprised to receive a package on Monday, since I had selected SAL and the forwarding service only shipped my package last week... Lo and behold, when I went to pick it up I found that they had shipped it by EMS. I thought the shipping cost had been unusually high... hmm. They claim it's because SAL would have been more expensive - which it would have been if it didn't classify as small parcel SAL??? I'm discussing it politely with them through email. Other than that, they were great; I'm pretty sure they repackaged my order and shipped it on the same day that they received it from TnA. They were prompt and helpful when I sent an inquiry about whether it would cause confusion if my name appeared in kanji on the package they were to receive.

So yeah. $11 to read my doujinshi a week or two earlier? I wouldn't have chosen it but, meh. I'm not too choked about it either. :D Junk Lab and Raku-Gun original stuffs <3 + the latest touhou-faggotry from Personal Color.

As I could have predicted, my Bakemonogatari v1 (blu-ray, lol) did not ship on time. Amazon kindly split my shipment (without charging me) so that my other stuff could arrive when they predicted it would. I don't mind Bakemonogatari coming later; I don't have anything to play it on yet anyways (and I'd be silly to expect anything else when I pre-ordered a popular item so close to the release date).

I'm surprised at how much I'm anticipating reading more from Nakazato Mitsuru. I enjoyed Dorobou no Meijin, but I didn't think I enjoyed it that much?

Yes I have been spending a lot of money. Lol.

So what have I been doing since I last posted?

I was in Japan when I last posted <3 (although my post was entirely unrelated).
That was a good trip.
It was surprisingly easy (considering how much I like my space) to share that little one-room apartment with Nat & Ho.
It was surprisingly easy to spend 8+ hours a day shopping in Akiba <3 (again).
I really enjoyed exploring... it's a good thing we all enjoy taking pictures of things, hahaha. So slow la.
I put some of those photos on my blackberry and sometimes I'll just open one and take a minute to smile.

I sat around reading light novels, drawing and studying IT-related-things after that. Which is a kind way of saying I didn't largely leave the house for a few months.

A job fell in my lap, and I started working in August. It's a great job, at a place filled with great people. I'm really enjoying myself so far, even if I do have to work until 9pm sometimes~

It feels weird not having some kind of 'deadline' for this period of my life. I keep waiting for that to bother me.

I like being able to spend money again <3.

Ottawa was interesting. So much old, so much brick and granite. Ground hogs are cute. Walked over a bridge to Gatineau so RJ could have a legal beer.

The area in between Ottawa and Quebec (city) is made of birch trees and backyard pools (above-ground). Never in my life have I seen such an abundance of either.

Quebec left me with the impression of a European city with North American influences rather than a North American city with European influences. Although the width of the average street fell somewhere in between. We stayed in a room with a turret, alarmingly. A turret. There was a Beavertail place in our hotel, I could see it from my window... but it was closed!! Gah. Ate far too much cheese.

Went down to Portland to see Wicked a couple of weekends ago; it was quite good.
They hadn't convinced me by intermission, but the latter half managed to tie up anything I was dissatisfied with.

(Well, anything that wasn't a personal complaint. Example of personal complaint: I hate Fiyero's character in the play-verse, and I hate that they transposed some of Glinda's character development onto him.)

They managed to make the story more lighthearted and relevant to a wider audience - all while retaining most of the important (imho) messages conveyed in the book.
That and it was fun and subtexty <3.

I should note that a large portion of the book was 'too deep' for me (or something), and was also cut entirely in the play, so I did not consider it in my evaluation.

Also paid a visit to Powell's Books <3. Even though I don't read as much as I used to, I could live in that store. Seriously.

We had a good time <3. I love traveling with my family.

Had my first casino experience just this past weekend; can't say I understand what it is about gambling that sucks people in.
Pachinko machines didn't grab me when I was fifteen, slot machines didn't do it for me this time. Sitting and watching my money count down is not my idea of fun?

I... drew something and it didn't save properly q__q.
I saved about five times. Including a jpg.
It looked like it had saved, but when I shut the file and tried to re-open any of the versions, they were all blank.
I liked it too. This feels awful.

I really didn't think I'd pass that course.
It was such a surprise to feel the CSIA pin in my envelope.

Slumdog Millionaire is an excellent movie!
Good visuals, good music (which is used well), good story.
Interesting way to tell a story.
I think whoever it was who used the word 'novel' to describe it (RJ?) was bang-on.

Milk was also amazing.
The acting was uncannily good.
The story was excellently woven.
I liked the utilization of actual footage from that era, it brought home the reality of it all.

I'm not going to talk about the other movie I saw.

I've spent an alarming portion of the few days playing Umineko.
I reached the end of the most recent translation patch today ;__; (EP3, ch11). I had not read the translation wiki entry carefully, and so I was surprised at how early the translation died on me.
I'm slogging through the untranslated chapters now, but it's really slow going. I just can't stop reading though... must. know. what. happens. next.

Heh. Horie Yui has been cast as Maria. I still can't stop chuckling at that.

I had a gorgeous morning. The sky was so clear. Stars as I set out from my house. The buildings of False Creek silhouetted against the lightening sky but still brightly illuminated from the inside. Looking out at across Burrard Inlet at the North Shore mountains. Glancing up to see them tipped with pink as the snow picks up the colors of the rising sun.

It was so clear today too, I could see individual trees on the mountains, I swear.

<3 <3 <3 Vancouver is so fuckawesomely heartbreakingly beautiful sometimes :D.

Avalanche at Big White.

On TV yesterday, they emphasized the fact that it was in-bounds and neglected to mention the fact that it happened in an experts-only area that not many people ski. Hmm.

On a somewhat related note, we didn't ski the Cliff this year. The Cliff chair wasn't open, and none of us wanted to ski it badly enough to deal with the traverse that comes with it when the chair's not open.

This year's post-xmas family ski trip was one of the best ever, conditions-wise. New snow every day <3. Thigh-deep powder <3 <3. One particularly deep snowdrift made a powder spray that went as high as the bridge of my nose (I had a powder mustache)... <3 <3 <3. Skiing felt effortless for the first two days, new skis + excellent conditions = fap.

Err, I was sick for the last couple of days, but I only took half a day off. Skiing the last day was... interesting. My sensations of motion were all screwed up and I couldn't hear that well, but the snow was so amazing, and it was SUNNY (at Big White? Pigs *can* fly!)... so it was all good somehow.

There was a wii in our unit, left there by the owners. RJ and I played DDR Hottest Dance Party. It was more horrible than you can ever imagine.

The trip home was shit. Changing elevation + massively plugged ears = pain and failure.

A couple days of sitting in my bed blowing my nose and looking dreadful, and off on another ski trip :D.

Whistler + friends = <3. It was windy so they didn't open the alpine chairs either day :< but I only skied the first day anyways (I felt rather sick on the second).

But that one day was fun x3. Viv busted her (shitty) goggles in the morning, which was all well and good imho, since they were awful! Skiing with them gave me motion-sickness, lol. We went looking around for a new pair after lunch. Met Nat & Vince after their lessons and dragged them from the Roundhouse all the way to the bottom of Red, even though they were already bagged (there was no other way, really!). That'll be a set of good memories for me though; going down Papoose/Pony Trail as got darker and darker... the grooming machines chasing us XD...roffles <3.

Remember, don't drop your inside hand!!! :D

Hit Shanghai Wonderful restaurant on Sat. night after a wicked drive home. Poor Ho was driving; he was so exhausted that he fell asleep while we were waiting for our food. Those soup buns are so yummy :D! And so is that bread + condensed milk stuff!

Skiing was amazing this week. I don't know if I'll ever ski as well as I did last Saturday... it was the first time in a year+ that I was keeping up with Dad & RJ easily. The conditions were awesome. And they got even better by the time Ho and I went skiing <3. Deep, untracked powder is so hot <3.

I basically spent most of my time on boards creaming my pants over my new skis. They're the first pair that I was involved in the info recon for... *and* they're a tier above the pair I'd picked out as a probable purchase last season. These happened to be available used (barely used!) from the Whistler rental place at the end of last season so... omg, faptastic skis <3.

Going out for all-you-can eat sushi was also fun, haven't done that in a while.

Backstroke of the West was amazing xDD I can't believe Vince managed to get a hold of a copy <3 <3 <3. Too bad the movie itself sucks so hard (and induces SW nerdrage in yours truly >_<)

I want my amazon order to hurry up and come. We wants to read thingses. I'm specifically curious about the nature of Kuromasa Shisei's work for YuriHimeS. Is it fail? Is it campy goodness? Also, Sasameki Koto. Reading ch 1 & 8 can get one interested, but I want moar.

I really should just buckle and start using share. Then I could get things fasterrr. And I would probably be able to follow my shounen ski jumping manga! Okamoto Rin + ski jumping + crossdressing + powerlevels = awesomefail and luff.

I love Bioware. Even though the dialogue got really awful at points (specific points...), and some of the drama made no sense to me... saving the galaxy (as a rather GAR female) is awfully fun.

Plus, I like the fact that this one involved SHOOTING.

Imagine Halo crossed with KoTOR, with a bit of cheese thrown in <3 <3 <3.

So... I didn't go home on the 31st. Something bizarre happened with our tickets... we didn't phone 24 hours ahead... so they canceled our reservation. Excellent. Anyways, I'll now be home on November 4th, lol.

I haven't done a whole lot with my extra time here... it's hard to have my day split in the middle. Somehow it just kills my desire to do anything.

沙耶の唄 (Song of Saya) is scary. Lol. I expected it to be scary in an awful way, not in a tense way. But while playing through one particular scene, I actually almost jumped when something happened in the game T_T. And then for the rest of the night all sorts of little sounds were making me start. Orz. In fact, this game actually makes me kind of glad I can't read really well, as I'm pretty sure the descriptions are far worse than I'm grasping. Lol. But it's addictive, I want to know what happens next!

I also picked up a copy of the first book of 我が家のお稲荷さま (Wagaya no Oinarisama) finally hahaha. Even though the story didn't seem that interesting, the cover art made me want to read it when I was in Kyoto 2 years ago... so now that an anime version has been announced, I can have a go at the novel and when that fails, resort to anime version, hahaha.

Uwaaaaah! I can't believe I didn't blog at all while I was here! I leave on Wednesday, and the only day I blogged was the day I arrived!

I guess it's just that I haven't had much 'net access, and so much happened between 'net fixes that it felt overwhelming to try and cram it into one entry? Mrr. Maybe I'll make a post-trip post... or maybe that'll go the same way my post-Paris-London post went (i.e. nowhere).

The first half of the trip was excellent! Tsu & co were good company and there was much exploring of Tokyo!

Sunshine creation was half-depressing, half-inspiring as usual :3. Disappointingly we didn't get to see Hayashiya Shizuru this time :< (or スマイル０円 xDD) but it was still very fung. I even got my picture taken... Dx

Whirlwind Hinamizawa (Shirakawa-go;白川郷) tour was hilarious and we ended up seeing pretty much everything I'd wanted to see, which surprised me! Our ability to do so was largely due to a Higurashi-fan-oriented guide to the area that we nabbed off some fellow otaku :D. It's too bad I didn't get any way to contact them, because their guide was so helpful!

Hmm... actually, not a WHOLE LOT has happened in the last week or two T_T. Other than escorting Nana to and from the hospital to visit Auntie, and a few escapes to Osaka. And a visit from the Takarazuka family xDD (I'm horribly disappointed that we didn't get to go to a show :< ).

Lol, as I'm sort of trapped and have run out of things to read... I've started playing 沙耶の唄 (Song of Saya)... it was a half-impulse buy (one of those things I've "kind of want"-ed for a while now) on my last trip to Osaka. But yeah, lol, medical terms T_T. Other than that I'm sort of understanding what's going on?? Maybe?? It's one of those skim and hope you're not missing *too* much situations. Lol.

All the familiar smells almost made me tear up on the bus from Narita. Ahh <3 I feel so silly.

Flight was gayed up... first attempt had to return because of an engine 'indication'... lol. It was a bit alarming, taxiing along, with emergency vehicles driving around us. Even though they warned us that it was just procedural, it was a bit... lol. So. Flight ended up leaving at 5:30pm instead of 1:40pm. I now have a *cute* little Shuttle sitting in the console cabinet next to my TV. Omg it's so hot <3 and I got it for $65 with a Northwood 3.2gHz p4 already in it, do I win?? (It even runs those fucking 1280x720 Darker than Black mkvs :D!). Nat & Ho also managed to jam a wireless G pci card in it... and thus it can stream over the network lol <3. So much excellence in such a little box <3. Pix will come later <3.

I also acquired (through generous donation) Ho's old desktop mobo&cpu (along with a bunch of other things <3). So my fileserver has transformed into a real computer... on which I might finally be able to play Half-Life 2??? :D We just have to reinstall the OS first <3.

Sunshine Coast on the long weekend was fun <3. Amazing bioluminescents <3!! They were a crazy neon-blue colour... when you swam it looked like you were a ghost in an old sci-fi film (think of the last scene in Return of the Jedi). DS was also fun <3 hahaha, I think I played a little too much Bleach.

Finished at storage place *and* plant place now <3! I thought I had to work tmr, but they didn't put me on the schedule, hooray! So now I get to start rushing about trying to get stuff done before leaving.

Package from a Tsu arrived on Friday, full of win and awesome!

Package from Dell was picked up on Sat, so power adapter is no longer flickerraping laptop. Powell-sai was visited, and old coworkers chatted with <3. A cookbook was bought (I'm still jealous of Richard's graphic design skillz). Had a cake. Played a DotA game (on the April Fools map) that made me laugh until I was crying so hard my nose was running <3.

Attended the Pride Parade on Sunday~. It was a two family trip, lol. Look! A gay pyramid head!.

Was served an *amazing* dinner on Sunday * __ *. The boys were spectacular as usual, combining style and yummy food <3. There was even a riddle we had to solve to figure out where we sat XD (it was tuff, but we got it eventually!).

You can't see the title of the course in that pic ;D (look to the upper left... you'll only get it if you know a certain ho.)

There was yummy chowder <3 but I didn't get a picture of it :<.

Also, you could tell from the table settings that the boys had been playing a little too much Diablo II. Lol <3.

That was fun <3.

On a whim, I went to the final Harry Potter book release thing at VanDusen Gardens (and dragged several people with me <3). Lol. I figured that since it was the last one (theoretically) we might as well see some of the craziness before it all fades away.

It was quite huge. I find it amazing how many different kinds of people like Harry Potter. I guess I expected it to be little kids... but hey, we grew up with the books (kind of), I guess others must have as well, lol. So many different kinds of people, all different ages, many of them dressed up, all waiting for the same thing. It was oddly fun, and completely lacking the aura of fail that somewhat nerdy events usually have. Or the rabidly fanatic aura that fad-related events usually have.

I was also strangely touched that Capers, Blenz and Happy Planet all donated food/drinks <3. Instead of trying to make money. Free, good-quality snacks <3.

Anyways, I'm going up to the lot/boat for a few days, be back Tuesday.

I fixed my Bose headphuns <3 ;w; !! I had sort of expected it not to work... but apparently setting the wires on fire did the trick :D.

Went to dim sum & the Vancouver Art Gallery (I have the "VAG" stamp on my hand to prove it... srsly... what genius allowed that?) for Father's Day.

The exhibit we went for was Monet to Dali. I have far too much trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that this indicates it is Monet -> Dali rather than Monet & Dali. Lol. The exhibit itself was rather good. I think it could have been organized better, but they had some good works in there (obviously, I guess).

Then RJ and the boys and I (and my mum, lol) went to see PotC 3. I actually enjoyed it immensely, although I would not say it was a well-made movie ;D. But I did enjoy it. Or perhaps it was just Kiera Knightley running around killing things and dressing up in different outfits <_<. The post-credits ending made me angry though, lol, domesticity.

In other news I had the most bizarre dream about going crazy this morning (specifically about going L5... at one point I looked in the mirror and cat-eyed Rena was staring back at me...).

I was in Carol's house (Carol who was from here, not the relative from TO), but her laundry room had turned into a bathroom. The bathroom from the Gibbons house. It was badly lit in the dream... and really creepy. And under a set of stairs somehow (Carol's house was a bungalow). I got stuck in it at night and the power went out or sth... and it was amazingly terrifying because I started having weird paranoid/anxious fits... (this is where I looked in the mirror and saw that I was Rena) and eventually I got so terrified/out of my mind that I just started to scream, and then vomit... and I couldn't stop vomiting. I'd pretty much gone completely batshit.

And then all of a sudden I was fixing some computer that was lying around the house (dream prolly got interrupted by my alarm, lol). I got really angry because the CD drive was open somehow... and a hair nest got caught in the spinning mechanism. I couldn't stop it, so the mechanism was just about to burn itself out... when I woke up. I was angry because of the incredibly stupid way the CD drive was designed, and also that there was so much crap in Carol's house (i.e. the random hair nest that got caught in the drive) that it made it impossible to do anything (lol subconscious, are you saying is it tiem to clean my room naow?? :D??).

At some point during this I also had to catch a rat that was running down the unpossible stairs. There was sth creepy about that too but I can't remember what...

But even while fixing the computer, I knew that the L5-ness was lurking... just waiting to show up again and send me into a fit of uncontrollable screaming/vomiting/etc.

Creeeepy.

And then I found that machete in the locker ;D I guess it's best that I couldn't keep it...

I bought myself a cooling pad for my laptop yesterday, because my comp gets really fucking hot. T_T the cpu temp peaks at 75C... (I know...) which hasn't changed, but at least the case doesn't feel like it's going to melt now...

I also bought a couple of video cards @ Monitor King for $15 (yesterday), just for the hell of it. I haven't tested either of them yet (so who knows if they work), but the one that looked more promising turns out to be the first ever model of ATI's Radeon All-in-Wonder... lol. I thought it'd be newer because it only has DVI, and no d-sub... but lol, made in 2000. Oh well, we shall do some testing at some point, to see how it runs.

In other news, I'm dumb ;D.

TO trip was awesum <3. ty to Novarrrarr for showing us around x3!! Awesome Korean BBQ was awesome. Pacific Mall was like all the little 'Empire Centre's and 'Cosmo Plaza's in Richmonx, shoved into one mall. Crazy.

Got home and had food poisoning (or sth resembling it) the next day :< and thus missed work... but it was gone by Thurs.

Got sunburned on Saturday and Sunday! Lol.

I found a couple of motherboards in the dumpster at work. Ho discovered one was actually rather good. We bought a used processor & fan for $20 in order to test this motherboard. The bios was fuxed. After some attempts to flash it, Ho discovered a fascinating technique called "Hot Flashing" (lol menopause, etc). After much trial and error, we seem to have an awesome new box <3.

It is (about) 1.4GHz as opposed to my current 800MHz. Since I already have 512MB of ram and a 128MB video card, that's not a shabby desktop x3. Especially since it's been constructed from dumpster-diving and cheap used parts <3.

So. Anyways. Other than working 6 days a week (8h/day), that's what I've been doing :3. Watching Ho unbrick a dumpster-motherboard, hahaha.

I'm currently eyeing a new case for my box. It'd be a good idea. And rather fap.

I love when I'm so excited about a series. It doesn't even matter if it sucks, because the hype beforehand is so fun * w *. You really don't want to know the extent to which I've been stalking this series.

I watched the first episode of StrikerS today.

Phwoar. That is all. Nanoha is badass <3.

Oh, and I finished Simoun today. I liked it. There was so much going on; so many reasons I liked it... it's hard to know where to start. Characters/character development, interesting art, interesting pacing, ideas, plot, wtf gender identities, and also copious amounts of gayyy everywhere.

I've really enjoyed most of the series I've watched lately, but Simoun leaves me with a real feeling of wanting more.

irl, I've been mildly busy.

We went skiing on Saturday, and although I haven't blogged about it, I got new skis the last time we went. They are so incredibly fap it's terrifying. I... think I'm in love <3. Salomon Siam 10's <3. We got them with bindings and barely used for $300 <3 <3 <3 which is CHEAP. So they are <3.

The conditions were amazing on Saturday. Searingly blue skies, good temperature, decent snow conditions (new skis made even the junk sooo much easier). I got into a real groove too ; __ ; I could feel some perfect carving going on <3. Also attempted some lame rail-riding on a fallen tree hahahaha, which involved falling on my butt at least once. It was awesome x 100.

There was also some DotS (DotA) on Sat, and omg Razor is hax <3 hahaha. FORCE LIGHTNING. everywhere.

Oh, yes, and we watched 300 on Thursday :3 in IMAX, lulz. Vince's idea, and it was pretty much awesome. There definitely cheese and a few logic gaps, but for the most part everything looked so cool I didn't give a fuck, hahaha. All in all, I really enjoyed watching it.

God Damn. I figured, from the treatment it was given on /a/, that Haruhi would be one of those series that's dragged through the mud by its failurefans. But... eh, whatever. Just don't think about it, just don't think about it.

One thing have to say is, that in my humble opinion, the K:3->4 H:2->7 transition was clever, kthx. It was done, imho, not just for wtf-related shock & lulz (gurr), but because doing the transition that way indirectly validates what Yuki was telling Kyon in K:3/H:2.

The viewer is theoretically going "wait wut?" or "uh okay..." at the end of K:3/H:2, and having the aspect you're questioning show up as an irrefutably established fact in K:4/H:7 clarifies things.

In my humble opinion, that was an interesting way to do it and I appreciated it. But you know, since it's a stylistic thing it's open to love/hate. Some people may not like being railroaded with the answer like that, lol.

But I object to people who just think Haruhi is one big WTF-party. It's a big clever WTF-party, thank you.

Other Haru-tard gripes:
- a dude mentions the "intro" and they all start talking about the ED. No.
- the dub got a higher score than the animation? No.
- they are wearing the yellow headbands to promote Bandai's Limited Edition set.

General gripes:
- why do people like dubs again?
- they all laughed uproariously when one guy said "in America", please don't tell me...
- I wish that they could finish a statement without one of the other weeaboos interrupting, or that they would back up their points with some specific scenes.

You know, Bandai really failed with their advertising for Haruhi ;__;.

I really liked Haruhi. I really like Limited Editions. And yet whenever I look at anything to do with the R1 release for Haruhi, it brings to mind the horrible horrible advertising campaign with those painful videos D:.

Maybe it worked for some people, but I know it just turned others off completely. If it hadn't been for that advertising campaign I probably would have bought the R1 release, but since my stomach rebels every time I even think of it now... lol. Augh, thanks Bandai.

Somehow I ended up watching all of Second Barrage (Black Lagoon) today. Can you really blame me? I mean, it's Black Lagoon... Oh God psychotic women are hot.

I watched Babel and The Departed last weekend.

I'm still curious about why anyone thinks Babel is a good movie, lol. I hated the way it was put together, esp how much useless (imho) footage there was. Considering it was a 2.5 hour movie D:.

The Departed however, I didn't mind :D. I rather enjoyed it actually. There are a few things that bugged me about it but I can't put my finger on them D;.

Mt.Washington was fun <3.

Ski report:

Friday morning = Hell D;. Nearly the entire mountain was solid ice. Skis clattering and careening all over the place. No shock absorption, uncomfortable and very orz.

Friday afternoon = Challenging. Warmed up a *bit*, so we decided to go ski moguls :B lol. Ice moguls. Blue ice moguls. (Schum's Delight and Rick's Ride.) S'prolly some of the hardest skiing I've ever done. Clattering about on the ice made my joints and bones ache. Lucky the runs are short on Mt.Washington

Saturday morning = Not Bad! Skied Schum's Delight and Rick's Ride some more. Nowhere near as hard as on Friday, but still blue-tinted.

Saturday afternoon = Lolz, blizzard. Can't see shit captain. Skiied over to the Sunrise (&Bandai?) chair to discover it was... closed <_<. Mum hitchhiked back up the mountain to get the van. So she could rescue us ~__~. Hands nearly froze off, so Mum sent me to buy new gloves for myself (my gloves were kind of old <_<). Fancy new Scott gloves are warm *__*

Happy Valentine's Day!

Watched Solty Rei while I was couch-bound. I had an awful lot to say about it, but it's all over the place in my head now. I liked it, definitely. Some plot points were a bit lol, but the characters pulled it all together imho. Oh and I loled at the so VERY GONZO episodes with Will and his plane. GONZO. Anyways, I was moving more and more towards hating Gonzo (reasons including but not limited to: expanding breasts, kill-everyone emofaggotry, "meaningful" shit) but this made me hate them much less <3. I think I was just mad at them for being popular anyways <_<;

p.s. I adored the faggy four of the RUC <3. In a swoony, girly kind of way. Leader + Brawn + Sniper + Haxxor (MAMIKO!). Hawt.

Also played Okami (English version this time) and got twice as far as I did in the Japanese version, in less time T_T.

I wanted to play Persona 3 but my brain wasn't up to it (since it's in Japanese, lol). Bloody everything has been reminding me of it lately.

LOVELY. I broke my "I never throw up" rule and puked out my nose today \o/. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. Possibly eggs.

What part of the day I didn't spend curled around a toilet or lying down resting, I spent re-arranging our TV room. Linda's old TV came to live with us. She felt more comfortable giving it away to someone she knows than imagining some random person paying $700-$900 for what she paid $2500 (or so) for.

Either way, it's (xbox) HUEG, and the design of our TV room sucks, so we (mostly me...) spent the day rearranging everything to make it fit. Mum was busy shuffling stuff around in the attic to make room for what was leaving the TV room. And I'm better with A/V stuffs <3.

Now we have a non-old TV. And our gaming consoles are organized nicely in a cabinet with their wire systems all zip-tied and shit.

We also had a lol weekend at Whistler, but as it's difficult to imitate a broken chihuahua-bark or show how big hulk-chihuahua was online, I'll leave it at that.

So, at least Dad moving out of his apt means that I get to reap some rewards. I'd rather have the apt but *shrug* silver lining.

I now have a 5-disc changer in my room, that plays CDs and DVDs :9. It's bloody old, so it doesn't play burned CDs D; or DVDs with the tiniest scratch or pockmark, lol. But who am I to complain?

I must admit I was quite excited about watching DVDs in my room, lol. Jujibox has a nice video card, so I can run the DVD player through this, and watch DVDs on the mac monitor, lol. Incidentally I got my gamebridge for $24, cheap or CHEAPEST?

Incidentally, I will probably not watch DVDs in my room that often, lol. It's the IDEA of it all <3.

Also, envy our Hot Pot (hok pok) party <3. It was a while ago but I just dragged the pix off digicam. Thx again Vince <3.

+ I attended a funeral service for mum's boss of 30 years, and it actually turned out to be more inspiring than depressing. 800 people from all over, well-spoken and intelligent professionals, all choking back tears. I'm ashamed to say I had no idea Dr.Bud was that cool. I dream that someday I'll be that good at what I do.

+ Dad & Linda are shopping for a 46" LCD TV.

- Dad gave notice for his apartment. This makes me tremendously frustrated. I love that place. Its location and our history with it makes it very very near and dear to my heart. Where will we park when we go to Gyoza King? Where will be our base when raiding downtown? Where will we crash pre-skiing, or post-con? Where will we play pool charades? Where will we watch the Symphony of Fire finale from? And so on. Our bedspreads are too tacky to take with us, there's no real point in bringing our few pieces of furniture. Dad is moving into his g/f's home, in Ladner. Because cohabitation has worked so well for him in the past. Sorry, that was catty, but I am (exceedingly) annoyed. The most annoying thing is that I don't really feel there's a point in saying anything at all to his face. Since Dad is Dad, he will do as he does, and what I have to say will be discussed and acknowledged, but never really considered. Despite the fact that I am probably right.

+ Rogers has FMP TSR. I'm happy about this, and impressed, even though I'm not sure why. I guess I am just so enamored of it as a piece that I'm happy it's readily available.

So, Saturday Dad got RJ his xmas RAM & Video upgrade, which means my server just got a 128MB Video card, lol.

It's now better than the Inspiron T_T (laptop).

Ho installed things for us, and messed around with my server a bit. He suggested I run multimonitor, just for the hell of it. So, just because I can, I'm running multimonitor on the server. Hahaha <3. Borken 15" LCD and mysteriously good and terrifyingly old 15" Mac CRT (I should take a pic of the connectors, it's pretty funny since it has to go DVI -> VGA -> Mac Monitor).

My desk is so cluttered. No matter how much I clean it, and fuss around with the objects on it, I can't seem to fix that.

You can also (barely) see the tower we found beside a dumpster on Sunday. Lol. We were coming up to a stop light beside a parking lot, and I'm like ":O box!" so of course we go to investigate it. Vince is like "orz, you guys". XD We're such vultures <3. But hey, it had some good parts in it! And the OS was Chinese, how awesome is that?? We start it up and it's all like 欢迎使用... x3~

Last night I slept normally for the first time in days <3.

On Monday I was sick as a dog, but was cheered up by packages from around the world <3. One containing a Stratosphere doujin (thx Tsu!!!), one containing (amongst other great things) a maid outfit... I almost died laughing <3. Thank you, Bibi and Na-chan XD!

Ugh, I've hit the bizarre-insomnia-stage of sick. It happens sometimes.

Saturday night I slept fitfully until 9:57am when I was like "oh fuck it, I'll just get up" and then I fell fast asleep, lol.

Last night I didn't sleep at all, I dozed but it felt like car-sleeping... where you're still aware. So I feel like a wreck this morning. But still like I've had a ton of caffeine... even though I've had none.

Due to insomnia, I managed to watch 12 episodes of Code Gayass: Ledouche of the Rebellion between 2am and 10am, lol. It's actually a decent show.

My nose bled horribly this morning. Profusely. EVERYWHERE. All over breakfast plate and face and several tissues. I also managed to swallow a lot of it, so now I feel kind of gross.

Kev mentioning it made me realize, I'm not usually sick for this long either T_T. I'm usually relatively genki again after three days or so, but it's been a week. orz.

Anyway, that's enough complaining, I feel like complete shit, basically <3.

I dun wanna go to school T__T.

Watched Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani?, a Japanese indie film. The cinematography was absolutely stunning <3 but that's about the only positive thing you can say about it, lol. I actually enjoyed watching it, just for the aesthetics, except when Mizui was playing his terrifyingly awful music. orz. Pretty, noisy & a bit empty.

And then I felt like drawing, so I drew.

P.S. Vince, my "aha" moment regarding the actress who played Hana was due to the fact that she also played Nana Komatsu from the Nana movie. I just had to check to be sure.

Ugh, I'm sick D;.

I forgot how small chickadees are, they are SO small. There were some jumping about in the snow this morning as I stared out the back window groggily. I thought they were flying mice at first (lol sickness).

At least being sick has made me read, as I feel like doing little else.

And thus, I just finished a fabulous book by Sarah Dunant; In the Company of the Courtesan. Between this and The Birth of Venus, I think I love this woman *__*. I must thank Mum profusely for feeding me these books.

And I have no more school for the week :DDD so I can just sit around recuperating <3.

Blue Gate Crossing (lol Blue Gay Crossing <3) was a movie that captured the dance of adolescence very well <3. I liked the slow pace, the atmosphere, the believability of the characters, and a bazillion other parts of the movie that I can't really put into words. Rather than a story, it seemed like a snippet of life captured on screen.

p.s. Vince, that Hazelnuts Chocolate music is terrifying .__.

Boom! And the New Year hits us all.

Great ski vacation at Big White, the weather was insane! In a good way! I have never seen that much of the mountain or the surrounding terrain, EVER. Hint: Big White is also known as Big Whiteout, located near the Beaverdell Fog Factory. But this year was OMG clear <3.

Skiied the Cliff for the first time, two times on the 30th, three on the 31st. Sad to say, it was a bit anticlimactic. It wasn't terrifying at all. But it was fucking fun, best thing I skied all day! Partially because all skis turn the same in the air, so the fact that I was renting a pair of Solomon Siam No.7's didn't matter as much as it did on the ground ;D.

Dad took us off a different part of the entrance later, where the convex roll started after the moguls, and that did give me butterflies :O. So did a snow face he found under a rock face, which was great, but butterfly-inducing steep <3.

Other than that... good times, good times.

Came back to Bbl Tea and snacks @ Pure Tea <3.

Christmas Carol was fun <3 <3 <3. Good to see all those people that I never get to see anymore! Went for food/drink at the Kingston Pub (I think?) afterwards. I just had water :9 but the food was yum (if a little pricey!).

Played Hockey today with Ho, Vince, Matt and a bunch of Ho's extended family. It was hilarious and fun <3 <3 <3. It made me want to play more actually xD. Kev's cousin was helpful too; he kept giving us pointers and stuff, little mini-lessons :3. Next time I'm getting man-skates though, the lady-skates raped my anklebones horribly!! D:!!

Fluffy snow! Skiing was awesome :3~

Skied the new Symphony Chair some, just to give it a chance (the original verdict was 'too much traversing, not enough vertical :P') and discovered the not-a-cornice was pretty fun <3. Go left when unloading from the lift, skate past rocks, as soon as rocks end and cornice signs start, go go go! It's not a cornice, the signs lie <3. Here's hoping that Symphony takes some of the load off the other chairs though <3.

!Goat's Gully was open! Skied it once <3.

Other than that, we pretty much ranged all over. Harmony, Peak, Red, Emerald, Garbanzo. Favouring Harmony when possible though, iirc.

Lodge room was nice :D I like having housekeeping, lol.

Sushi Village has surprisingly unshabby Japanese food :O. Also ate @ Milestones, Ingrid's (?) and had Beavertails (!). Oh and some snax at the Brewhouse while freeloading at the après party for Kev's dad's Ski Camp. Roffles.

Nggghhh. Tired.

Skiied again today @ Whistler. This time with Dad & RJ. Omfg RJ goes TOO FAST >__<. I feel like a loose cannon trying to keep up, bombing down the hill with my skis flopping all over. orz. And it takes so much energy to stay stable and ready for stuff. And I still got left behind a lot -____-.

Dad blames my skis, he wants me to demo new ones at Big White. I told him my old Rossies were my friends. He told me I could keep them as my friends, but ski on different skis... lol...

Top of Red Chair -> Creekside, no stopping, fell flat on my face coming to a stop at the end. People standing around laughed at me, Since I couldn't bow, I just put my face in my hands and shook my head in shame.

Also managed to roll halfway down a Green Circle (easiest) hill before jamming my skis into said hill and flipping over them to ram my face into the snow. GG me <3.

After a somewhat spontaneous suggestion, Ho and I took off for Whistler for a short ski trip before our exams started XD.

Skiing was <3!!! NO LINEUPS *__*!!

Snow was chunky, but therefore interesting. Better in some places than others, and some ice on the second day. First day was amazingly clear weather :3. In relation to what I'm used to <3. Ate dinrar at Dusty's, are we Whistler people now??

I missed skiing <3. But now I'm really sore XD. So rusty Dx.

I think Franz's was our fave run? And some stuff on Harmony?

Zomg I'm such a whore for my SEASON'S PASS. Zomg zomg.

HOWEVER. We came back to the unit, to pack up and go home, and orz. Surprise.

Fucking snow.

Yup.

Temporary Solution. It actually lasted until the ferry terminal :O at which point a small corner came undone and we had to stop at Park Royal to fix it.

It was kind of an orz ending to the trip, but the rest was awesome xD.

:B Home now, flight got in at 2 am on Monday morning. For our last day we walked around Greenwich Village and back through some of SoHo, ate some weird Japanese/Thai fusion food (Godzilla roll wasn't bad), ate some Cajun snacks, then went to Blue Man. Blue Man was cool, but also kind of scary. Before the show one of the ushers dragged us off for some audience participation thing where we had to come in late so they could make fun of us D; lol. I didn't really get that, but w/e. Then later one of the Blue Men stood on the arms of my chair and danced... needless to say I couldn't see and was mildly alarmed -__-;. But it was a really really good show. I'd recommend it. It was social commentary, a circus, and stomp!/a rave all mixed into one, ahahhaa. Very funny, and quite amazing, a sensory overload.

So tired T_T.

Woke up... ate bagel. Walked to Bloomingdales, looked around, walked to Macy's. Had pizza for lunch at some point. I had some kind of ... spinach and cheese and tomato pizza <3. There were guys with M-16's hanging around when we came out of Macy's tho o_o. Took a cab to SoHo, looked around, ALOT. Lol.

I FOUND A MODERN AMUSEMENT T-SHIRT. Goddamnit. It had the giant crow and everything T_T but I didn't like the neckline. Bah.

Dad's g/f bought me some punk type shoes at a place called SOHO LAB.

We looked around for somewhere to eat dinner but everywhere was full, so we came back to the area around our hotel and ate some North Italian food. Then we walked down to Times Square to investigate some tickets (T_T) and then up to stand in line for some chicken and rice from a street stall that's insanely popular.

There was some big to-do a couple of blocks from our 'hotel' (apartment) o_o they closed off the road, and there were at least nine emergency vehicles :O three fire trucks, three ambulances, some SUVs and a billion squad cars. They had one big ladder, and a cherrypicker lift thing pointed at this building. We were all wondering what was up, since there were still people in the apartment they were scaling, but there were so many vehicles! It couldn't be anything super-dangerous, but it seemed to have warranted a lot of attention. However, according to one of the firemen, it was just a ceiling fire Dx lol. Oh well, we were waiting for a table in a restaurant anyways. For our second dinner :3. It was a little Cuban place, and the food was really good! There was also live music, and some people got up and danced. Very cool, all in all... excellent Cuban creme caramel type thing <3. And really really good fried cassava of some sort >w<.

Walked around a bunch today <3. Saw the Frick Collection, was impressed by the way Renaissance painters did silk. Ogled stuff at the Apple Store, which you enter via a giant glass box on street-level :3. Also ogled stuff at Sony Plaza :3. Went to Grand Central Terminal @ rush hour, wow it's big *_*. Ate at the Oyster Bar; raw cherrystone clams, sea urchin and oysters, as well as some fabulous scallop stew. We had a hilarious heckling waiter guy, who harassed RJ and I for getting decaf iced coffee on a Friday night. We aren't legal drinking age!! Roffles. Back here for a rest before we go out again for sum moar foodz <3. Lol @ our family's on-vacation eating habits.

We dragged our exchange student around downtown today :3 up Robson and around and around and through gastown to Dad's office, lol. I tried Coke Blak or wtf it's called... it was weirdly good. Then we went to this 'sayonara' party for the kids, roffles. RJ made a speech in Japanese XDD (he didn't know the speech had to be in Japanese until this Thursday, ahaha... poor kid) and it went really well :3.

After the party, Mom suggested we drag exchange student and her friend to espot XDD. We dragged the friend's host family kid along too. Made Ho-ho drive, and got Vince to come along... but forgot to tell him we were bringing Japanese lolis and some highschool kid who we don't know XDD. Ahahaha, he got in the car and was like "WTF...". Poor Vince <3. It was really fun tho >w<. RJ beat Drop Out on maniac (on DDR "SuperNova" roffles) :O!

Got bbltea after espot, it took an insanely long time for the Japanese girls to decide and order >__<;; Roffles.

Vince came over after we got home and he and I played many matches of Kohaku vs Hisui in Melty Blood (aka Melty Rape, apparently, lols...) and one match of NERO VS WALLAWTFKCHIA. That last one was the best match. Vince pwned me a lot... damn Kohaku and her broom ;<. God, why is that game so fun? I'm glad I bought it for the PS2 XD (zomggg ty for doing the legwork for that Natlaw >w< !!) it's easier than using my laptop and the Elecom.

Except Inspiron + Elecom still = win for ferry rides XD. Ahahaha.
